Two years ago I started working with Pardot. Up to this date, I’ve become a Salesforce Certified Pardot Consultant and help a lot of companies to manage their Marketing with this Marketing Automation Software. This is how my journey went.
Hi, my name is Yvonne. I am an Online Marketing Consultant @aptly_gmbh and always hungry for Social Media. Marketing Automation innovation is one of my biggest interests, as well as Mountainbiking and travelling around the world.
Even though I successfully completed the certification exam to become a Salesforce Certified Pardot Consultant recently, I want you guys to learn more stuff with me. Whether you are still relatively new to marketing or a seasoned veteran looking to master new software – I hope I can help with my experience.
Where to start?
I had my first touch point with Marketing Automation with Eloqua in 2012, when I successfully completed the Eloqua Level 1 Certified Consultant exam.
In 2013 I started working with Pardot. At this time I became a consultant in a new company to support clients in the areas campaign and lead management as well as reporting. Pardot is a web-based software mainly for marketers to create and track online marketing campaigns. Pardot consists of modules to build, manage and activate lead generation components such as landing pages, forms, lead nurturing and email marketing programs.
A great thing about Pardot is, that if you are interested in learning higher level strategies, you can attend the live webinars, that Pardot offers regularly. These are appropriate for those of you who know marketing automation, but want to dive straight into the deeper information levels. The webinars are hosted live by actual Pardot employees, so you can ask all your questions.
Of course, there are plenty of other extremely helpful tools Pardot has to offer in order to help you learn as fast and efficiently as possible.
- Knowledge Base: It´s essentially a guide to Pardot.
- Pardot Blog
- Ideas Forum: A place where you can post any feature/ idea what you miss in Pardot.
- What´s New: This shows you all the updates, that are taking place in Pardot. Additionally you find all new features on your dashboard.
In the course of time we at Aptly received more and more customers, who already used Pardot or who asked us to do their implementation. Thereby I earned more and more experience with this platform.
Salesforce Certified Pardot Consultant certification
Then in October 2014, Pardot announced that the Salesforce Certified Pardot Consultant certification was available. This was for me the starting shot to gain a certification title. I think when it comes to sifting through piles of literature and information regarding a subject, finding a starting point is the most challenging and overwhelming part. So I registered for the 30 days certification prep which helps you focus on content, topics, and knowledge that will prepare you to pass the Salesforce Certified Pardot Consultant exam within the next 30 days. You’ll receive an email about every other day from Pardot providing you with content and best practices on how to optimize the client experience and provide you with product knowledge to successfully complete Pardot implementations.
Nevertheless I have to admit that it is recommendable to read additional whitepaper, the Pardot blog as well as having at least 6 months working experience in Pardot in order to pass the exam without too much effort. At least that was what allowed me to call myself a certified Pardot consultant.
I am looking forward to work with Pardot in the future. Pardot is a great tool that matured enormously in the last years and I’m excited to see what’s coming next.
